Tournament Date and Venue
BATTLEFIELD 2026 will be held from 4th July to 7th July, 2026 at the University Gymnasium, University of Peradeniya.
Official Entry Sources
Entry forms will be available through the BATTLEFIELD official website and the official Pera Badminton social media pages.
Entry Closing Date
Entries will be open until 20/06/2026. The Tournament Committee may cancel an event if there are fewer than four entries.
Entry Form Submission
Entries can be submitted either through this website or as a physical entry form at the University Gymnasium, University of Peradeniya from 25th May, between 09:00 am and 05:00 pm on weekdays.
- Before submitting a physical entry form, participants should contact one of the listed coordinators to coordinate the handover process.
- Money can also be directly handed over to one of the coordinators.
- Only one submission method should be used: either the online registration or the physical entry form. Do not submit both.

Payment can be made via bank transfer or handed directly to a coordinator.

Postal Entries and Refunds
Entries via post will not be accepted. Entry fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Eligibility Requirements
Participants in the age group category must be permanent residents of the Central Province, North Western Province, or Uva Province.
- For the Open category, eligibility extends to permanent residents of the Central Province, North Western Province, or Uva Province.
- University players from State and Private Universities across the country are also eligible for the Open category.
- University students must bring their University ID for verification purposes.
Documents Required at Tournament
Participants must bring their Birth Certificate or National ID, along with proof of payment such as the bank slip, when attending the tournament.
Age Calculation and Category Eligibility
Age will be calculated on 1st January 2027 for Junior events (Under 9/11/13/15/17/19) and on 1st January 2026 for Senior events (Over 30).
- Under 9 — Born on or after 1/1/2018
- Under 11 — Born on or after 1/1/2016
- Under 13 — Born on or after 1/1/2014
- Under 15 — Born on or after 1/1/2012
- Under 17 — Born on or after 1/1/2010
- Under 19 — Born on or after 1/1/2008
- Over 30 — Born on or before 1/1/1996
- Open category players must be 14 years of age or above as of 1st January 2027.
- Under 9 players can also participate in the Under 11 Doubles event.
Shuttlecock Rules
Different shuttlecocks will be used depending on the category.
- YONEX Mavis 600 nylon shuttlecocks will be used for Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, and Over 30 matches.
- Feather shuttlecocks of an SLBA-approved brand will be used for Under 15, Under 17, Under 19, all Open events, and all University events.
Scoring System
The scoring format will vary based on the category and tournament stage.
- Under 9, Under 11, and Under 13 matches will consist of 30 points until the Quarter Finals.
- After the Quarter Finals, Under 9, Under 11, and Under 13 matches will consist of 3 sets of 15 points.
- All other age groups, Open events, and Over 30 events will consist of 3 sets of 21 points.
Tournament Format
The championship will consist of the events mentioned in the Entry Form. The tournament will be conducted on a knockout basis, and all matches will be played according to BWF rules and regulations.
Doubles Entry Rules
The partner’s name must be indicated on the Entry Form upon submission for all doubles categories. Entry forms without the partner’s name will be rejected at the draw.
- A competitor may substitute a partner due to illness or injury only with the written approval of the Tournament Referee prior to the event’s start.
- The substitute must be of equal or lower rank and must not have already entered the same event separately.
- The original partner will be disqualified from all further tournament play upon substitution.
Age Group Event Restrictions
If a player competes in a singles event under a particular age group, the same player cannot compete in a doubles event under a different age group, and vice versa.
- Players in age group categories are also eligible to participate in the Open category.
- In the Open category, players may participate in doubles with different partners, provided the partner remains the same throughout the specified category.
Awards and Certificates
Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third places. All participants will receive participation certificates.
Entry List, Draws, and Schedule
The entry list will be published on the official Facebook and Instagram pages from 24/06/2026. The draws and match schedule will be published on 27/06/2026.
- Participants must check the list and contact a coordinator if there are any issues.
- Any change in dates will be informed at least one week in advance.
Injury, Loss, and Damage
The Tournament Committee will not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage to a player’s property in connection with the tournament. Physiotherapists will be available in an emergency.
Disqualification and Walkovers
If a player or pair is disqualified for any offence within or outside the court, a walkover will be awarded to the opponent.
- If a player does not report for their match within 5 minutes after the third and final call, a walkover may be given against them.
Final Decisions
The decision of the umpire shall be final for on-court matters. The decision of the Tournament Committee shall be final and binding on all participants about all disputes or issues related to the tournament.
